Our Bites were in the Room Where it Happens - literally, as we were asked to cater custom desserts to the cast and crew for Hamilton on Broadway! We love all of our Bites on Broadway, but we've been waiting a whileeee to make personalized mini donuts for this one and we were not throwin' away our shot. Here's a little behind the scenes -
We start to make the custom menu for all of our Bites on Broadway by thinking about the main imagery within the show and listening to the soundtrack. This was a pretty last minute order and we only had one day to prep, but luckily we already know this one pretty well and have been sitting on some ideas since we started to do these personalized desserts for Broadway. But, oh no, we just HAD to watch the full live recording on Disney+ on Monday night.
We had SO MANY ideas, but here's where we landed for this custom menu -
| SCHUYLER SISTERS SPILL THE TEA: While we were thinking about the colors and imagery of Hamilton, it's easy to think of the signature tan, tope, and gold colors. But one of our favorite aspects of the show is their use of colors in their costumes. And there's no costume scheme like that of the Schuyler Sisters. We wanted to mix their signature blue/green, pink, and yellow while also incorporating the energy and ideas from their number. What's more relevant than TEA?! We had them spill it with matcha, strawberry, and lemon. WERK! |

SWEET, SUBMISSIVE SUBJECTS: We've had these little crown sprinkles before and when we first used them, Sam said to B, "we're going to use these for King George donuts when we make custom donuts for Hamiton." TALK ABOUT MANIFESTATION. We needed something super gold and regal and thought that we could show off with one of our signature flavors, maple cinnamon. Plus we love the Canadian nod with maple syrup. |

SAY NO TO THIS: OK so, Say No To This is easily one of the sexiest songs on Broadway right now. Right? Just us? We wanted something sexy and tempting and HELLO MARIA'S RED DRESS. Cherry Chocolate was the only correct flavor. We originally wanted to do a more flirtatious design, but knew that we had to find a way to incorporate the signature star design. We chose to leave off the top line, because Hamiton wasn't all there during Say No To This, right? None of us were. |

RAISE YOUR GLASS: The ensemble and the roles of Hamilton's friends in the Revolution are hugely important in Hamilton the Musical. When we catered custom desserts for them, we knew that we wanted to tribute the whole ensemble and their incredible costumes. HELLO ASCOTS. Hello "wonders great and small." This one pretty much wrote itself. |

TALK LESS, SMILE S'MORE: Ok we kind of forgot to take an individual picture of these, but we're really proud of this name. This was the first name that B thought of for Aaron Burr. Our S'mores flavor is always so popular, so we knew it was for sure going to be included. The design was a little bit tricky with the marshmallow, but we knew that we could incorporate Burr's signature colors in the sprinkle design and it's general vibe. |

How did we do?! We kind of took the custom Broadway dessert to a next level with this catering order, right? And we truly couldn't get over this photo of the pit enjoying our Bites. A direct quote from the pianist was "This whole show is gonna be fueled by these lil donuts." We made sure to tell them that we weren't able to use all of our ideas, so hopefully they'll have us back for more soon!
